All rooms are fitted with split system Heater / Air Conditioner for your comfort.

Gas BBQ is available in the gazebo.  Ask at Reception for Utensils.

Continental Self-Serve Breakfast is available at a small cost, in our Breakfast room located near reception. 

Blankets (& Pillows)

Spare blankets (& pillows) can be found on the top shelf of the wardrobe in your unit.

Rooms are available for Check In from 2pm unless prior arrangement has been made.

Housekeeping and Room cleaning occurs between 8:30am and 1pm.

BY LAW Smoking is NOT PERMITTED indoors & at least 5 meters from exterior doors.

If a guest smokes inside a room, a $200 cleaning fee will be charged – NO EXEPTIONS.

A Debit / Credit Card is necessary to access Snacks & Beverages from the Vending Machine located outside Reception.

If fresh towels are wanted, please put the appropriate sign on your door and place wet towels on the bathroom floor.  Fresh Towels will be swapped for during our morning clean.

Gippsland Armed Forces Museum

At West Sale Airfield you will find the Gippsland Armed Forces Museum which highlights the role played by Gippslanders in our Defence Forces.  The museum researches, educates and exhibits art, film, heraldry, photographs, private records and technology wo illustrate the roll Gippsland men and womern played in the defence of our country in times of war and peace since 1885.  The museum is open Saturday, Sunday, Monday 10am till 4pm

Parks and Playgounds

There are may parks, gardens and playgrounds scattered around the city.  On Gutheridge Parade you can find Adventure Playground right next door to the Sale Botanic Gardens and Fauna Park which features sensory gardens and an animal sanctuary housing kangaroos, emus and a range of bird life including peacocks.

You must visit the beautifull Port of Sale, the only inland port in Victoria.  The cutting of the 2.5km long Sale Canal, in 1886 – 1888 linked the town to the Thompson River and established it as a busy centre for streamers using the 400sq kilometers of waterways which comprise the beautifil Gippsland Lakes System.  This Launching point provides easy access at the western end for the serious and casual boating enthusiast.  The Port is a wonderful little spot to picnic and lunch by the river with a view of many moored boats.  Why not throw a rod in the water for a bit of fun?

All aboard the “Rubeena”, a 1912 electric boat and cruise down the river to the historic landmark swing bridge.  Drift back to a different time when our waterways were our highways.  Spot birds, wildlife and  relax as your knowledgeable guide recounts the regions remarkable stories, from its first people the Gunnaikurnai, through early settlement to the present day.  Learn the amazing history of the local area, the contruction of the canal and how it helped to create Gippslands first City.

Roulettes

Sale is home to the aerobatic flying team – the RAAF “Roulettes”, who have thrilled the masses with their precision of flying formation and are often seen practicing in the skies overhead.  Their home at the RAAF base in East Sale, is also a training base for pilots, air navigation and photography. 

​

Historic Swing Bridge

Sale swing bridge is the oldest surviving swing bridge in Australia, being constructed from 1880-1883, and is regarded as one of the engineering wonders of Gippsland.  It is located at the junction of the Thompson and Latrobe Rivers.  As the name suggests, the bridge was designed to swing open to allow shippong to and from the Port of Sale.  The bridge, built of cast iron cylinders, fittings, and wrought iron trusses is 61m long, with a central swing span of 46m.  The bridge still opens today and is a wonderful experience to see.  The scheduled opening times are as follows:

Saturdays & Sundays: Between 3.00pm and 4.00pm

Second Wednesday of every month: Between 11.00am and 12.00noon

 

Sale Common and Refuge

Visit the local wetlands, which provide a haven for a staggering array of waterbird breeding colonies.  A magnificent 330 Hectares of RAMSAR internationally listed wetlands area, with 450m of boardwalk.  The Common has a combionation of freshwater marsh and redgum woodland which supports an enormous variety of birdlife.

Lake Gutheridge and Lake Guyatt provide a 5.2km walking track and parcourse fitness circuit.  Lake Gutheridge, created in 1876 is very popular for walking, strolling and exercise at all times of th day.  Enjoy a picnic by the waters edge or simply sit and watch the birds and enjoy the view at sunset.  Maybe let the kids play while BBQ lunch is being prepared.

An outdoor market featuring a wide variety of plants, woodwork, clothing stalls, trash and tresure, bric-a-brac, arts and crafts, BBQ and Food Stalls, etc.

Market commences at 7am and finnishes at 1pm and is held on the thrid Sunday of every month at Thompson River Canal Reserve, Sale.
